Trysh Thompson is a technical writer by day and by night, she’s a superhero who goes by the name “Mom.” In the past, she was a journalist and a movie critic for a small paper (yes, Virginia, they do still exist). For fun, she watches anything with Gordon Ramsay, writes, reads, and tries desperately to sing (alas, the tone-deaf fairy visited her early in life). A die-hard Kentucky Wildcats basketball fan, careful what you say around her in March.
In her own words (and in the long tradition of personal ads), Trysh Thompson describes the sort of stories she's seeking to acquire and edit:
Desperate Editor looking for an HEA with well-developed characters so endearing I will sacrifice sleep just so I can hang out with them a little bit longer. Add in a plot twist that I don't see coming and we're talking about a real match made in heaven.
I secretly have a soft spot for a great romance. My greatest desire is to find a contemporary love story so amazing it makes me jealous because I don't get to experience it myself. (I'll vehemently deny this if questioned again later.)
I like to find the humor in everything. If you can't make me laugh, at least a little bit, there's no way this is my (for)ever after.
Turn ons: effective metaphors and great storytelling.
Turn offs: bad euphemisms, rich people falling for the help, and loose ends.
Think you have what it takes? Let's get this ever after rolling.
Even more fabulous? Trysh Thompson will be editing an anthology of geeky romance with open submissions starting in spring 2015. Check back in March for submission details.
