Eileen Wiedbrauk runs both Red Moon Romance and World Weaver Press. She is an editor, writer, coffee addict, cat herder, MFA graduate, fantasist-turned-fabalist-turned-urban-fantasy-junkie, Odyssey Workshop alumna, photographer, designer, tech geek, entrepreneur, avid reader, and a somewhat decent cook. She wears many hats, as the saying goes. Which is an odd saying in this case, as she rarely looks good in hats. eileenwiedbrauk.com
Her list is pretty full, but she is always willing to take on the perfect romance project if it crosses her desk. When it comes to romance, here's what she's looking for:
I love sexy paranormal, fantasy, and sci-fi romances. In terms of what makes my romance reading heart go pitter-patter, a sense of magic, wonder, or not-of-this-world possibilities are second only to the much coveted Alpha male.
Heroes should be sexy and strong. I almost said handsome as well, but monsters, demons, or scarred-but-sexy work just as well (beauty and the beast, anyone?). However he’s packaged, the hero is never average. He’s a fantasy man. Make him awesome. He also has a scary, savage edge to him that rational-me would never date but editor-me has already chosen as her next Book Boyfriend.
I gravitate toward heroines who are ordinary women who rise to the occasion when the story places them in extraordinary circumstances. Why? Because I more easily relate to average than to a (literal or figurative) goddess. A heroine who is perfect in every way--and she knows it--getting her perfect romance is hard for me to read without developing the urge to slap someone. My favorite heroines have concerns and insecurities, particularly about their bodies. Not that they’d spend all day whining about their issues—they’re far too practical for that.
I’m a fan of love/hate relationships and strange mate-bonding chemistry, just so long as the “fated mate” trope isn't used as an excuse for the hero and heroine overcoming their mutual dislike ("fate" is not a substitute for character growth).
Guilty pleasures: scorching sexual chemistry, Highlanders, shifters, dragons, plus-size heroines, vampires, dark fae, and hot humanoid aliens.
